Our Story

Born at the bedside. Made for everyday luxury.

A nurse's hands resting on Buttermilk Balm jars in soft black and white light

From the Founder

A balm for hands that work.

Buttermilk Balm was founded by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist whose hands had been worn thin by years of constant washing, sanitising, and gloving.

Nothing on the shelf seemed to last more than an hour. So she began making her own — slowly, by hand, in her kitchen — blending the richest butters and oils she could source until the balm held.

Today, every jar is still slow-cured in small batches and finished with the same intention: to make caring for your skin feel less like a chore, and more like a ritual.

01

Source

We source butters and oils for what they do — shea, mango, jojoba — never fillers.

02

Cure

Each batch is slow-cured in small lots so the butters fully set, delivering a rich, fast-absorbing finish — never greasy.

03

Finish

Hand-poured, hand-labelled, hand-inspected. Every jar leaves the studio with care.

Our Values

Quality. Craft. Self-care.

We believe self-care is not an indulgence — it is maintenance for the people who care for everyone else. That belief shapes every decision we make, from the ingredients we choose to the way we pack each order.
